queer eye for the straight guy

At this point, it is not a surprise that gay people have become integrated into our culture and are more accepted.
While homosexuals are people just as you and me, they are still discriminated against and even put into categories they cannot seem to escape.

Queer Eye For the Straight Guy is a reality television show on Bravo Network.
It is "premised on and plays with the stereotypes that gay men are superior in matters of fashion, style, personal grooming, interior design and culture" (wikipedia).

While many gay people are known to be very fashionable and stylish, not all of them are. But this show reinforces the stereotypes in an entertaining way. So all in all, gay stereotyping is a marketing scheme.

In each episode, a team of five gay men ("Fab Five") perform a makeover on what they make seem a "much-needed" person. This person is usually straight, hence the name of the show. They change his wardrobe, fix his taste in food, change the interior of his house, and more.

Although this show has received acclaim for its creative entertianment, it also has evoked crticism.
Criticism comes from people who claim that this show can be harmful because of the stereotypes that are in play. People may watch this show, be impressed by these fashionable, stylish, awesome homosexuals but that is all. They may not actually support the gays at all.

So while gay stereotypes can be used to entertain...is that the extent of it? There probably are more negative outcomes from it.

Here are some shaving tips for you guys...from the people who know best.
